When David and Anjana began to build the Curved House in Clapham in April 2003 they thought it might make them immortal. Instead, this labour of love, hand -crafted and built piece by extraordinary piece, has probably taken several years off their lives! Nonetheless, the pair has discovered a shared passion (some say talent) for building and design that had never been formally expressed through twenty years of shared experience as barrister and journalist. It took the formidable learning curve experienced during the build to make them believe they had something valuable to pass on. Their plan is to interpret and maximise the potential of unusual sites and buildings, search and provide locations and encourage the belief that instant results and cost alone should not compromise design. Anjana &' David overcome the need to conform. They have attracted a close circle of craftsmen, professionals and artisans during the Grand Designs build who remain with them and who are very much a part of the practical design process. They have also developed relationships with high-end suppliers who pass on the benefits of the superb quality products. Each project is designed to provide a challenge and push boundaries. In short Pimpernel dares to be different. For more information on The Learning Curve please visit www.curvedhouse.com |
